Branding at Web

I remember one funny incident once happened, and wow its was a great thing and any business newspaper might chose the words if said by any great businessmen.
After a long break we friends were meeting at a place where we used to meet regularly in college days, by now everyone has earned university degrees. Trying to know what we are doing in professional life one asked this question “Sumit, what are you doing now a days?” and sumit answered proudly “I completed MBA and now a days I am a sales person for Onida, a TV manufacturing giant those days”

Laughing loudly he said after hearing from Sumit, balls… what the hell you are selling, you are only a facilitator, Onida has its own reach in its target audience, if are a true sales person, sell my soap(this guy is the owner of a local soap used to wash clothes in rural areas of India).

Story ends here, but words never end. He was right actually, and for me sales and marketing in traditional approach and web approach are same. Difference is of only platform.

So if you own a website and have enough budgets to reach to your audience using traditional ways of promotion like TV commercials, Print media Ads, I can tell you who is going to be blamed for not putting enough efforts as expected. It’s the one who is doing SEO for your website.

Your analytics data may give enough insight story of this, see carefully with what keyword or variation of keywords people are finding you on search engines, I hope it will be your brand name. And as your website becomes old and you got more hits over the time from search engines and have done basic optimization like Meta and Title optimization, you will find your site ranked with long trails of main keywords.

I have worked in coordination on a lots of web project from scratch, and found one interesting thing that where a web analyst was involved in strategic planning of the project, who knows all about SEO, PPC and other web based promotion activities, those projects tasted the success.

On the other hand, if project belongs to some already existing brand, it took only few days to get good traffic.

So, who should be the first person to contact when you are going to launch a new website or a new feature in your website? Your web analyst, because only he knows from where people are landing on site, what they are doing on the site, he can tell you the untold story.

And who may be the strategy maker for your website, if he does have the knowledge of finance, again a web analyst.

And who can be a web analyst? Anyone, who has interests in mathematics,
What should a web analyst must know? SEO.
